How to dress Retro!

Hey hey peeps! It has been a hot minute since I was hanging around here with you all…How have you all been??? Well today we shall be diving into something that I would like to call ‘RETRO-ING’ 🙂 . Now, what is ‘Retro’? Wikipedia defines Retro style as “a style that is consciously derivative or imitative of trends, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the recent past. It generally implies a vintage of at least fifteen or twenty years.”

What does Retro mean to me? When I think of Retro, I feel like people were never really scared to experiment. They went ahead and mixed two bold prints together or wore super exaggerated/tight fitted clothing. Focus on super chunky and funky accessories were prominent. Keeping all of this in mind, I have put together three looks which will not only give you an idea but also a few options to get the Retro style going for you.

Oh, Hello Bell Bottoms!

The highlight of this look is obviously the bell-bottom styled denims. Pairing it up a Crop Sweater top beaded at the shoulders and the Cat-eye sunnies, added to the whole retro vibe that I was going for.

Print-on-Print kinda Chic!

I wore a leopard print jegging with animals like leopards, tigers, cheetahs printed on the top. To give this print-on-print monotony a break, I added a belt. I completed the look with coloured aviators that I bought from Colaba Causeway on one of my trips to Mumbai. Adding the black suede clutch & pumps, brought the look together. Block-styled earrings were famous back then which was the final touch needed to complete the look.

Whimsically Sporty!

For this look, I kept the colour palette monotonous but played it up with other elements like the big golden buttons on the crop top, the bling on the jeggings, the snake print bag and the pink cat-eye eye-wear. These small elements painted a larger picture of giving me the ‘retro with a twist’ kinda vibe. The black and white sport shoes and the golden earrings summed up the look.

I have had super-duper fun creating these looks. Hope you guys enjoyed this blog!

Do let me know which was your favourite look in the comment section down below 🙂 . Special thanks to The SassySpoon for allowing me to shoot this entire series of my blog in their Koregaon Park, Pune, location.

Until next time, always remember GO BOLD OR GO HOME!!
